John is Chairman of YoungsRPS; works closely with the Managing Director to run and develop the firm as well as carrying out a range of rural professional work.
John trained in Nottinghamshire with Henry Spencer and Sons in the early 1970s, then moved back north to work with his Father in the long‑established family firm of Turnbull and Parkinson, which had operated since 1879, before opening the English arm of Arthur Young Estate Management in 1986 in Newcastle upon Tyne. The merger with RPS Limited was the culmination of growth over many years, growth which has continued to this day.
John's work includes development land contracts; sales and valuations of farms and rural property; Expert Witness reports for litigation; compulsory purchase; compensation for third party mineral interests; and tenancy succession.
When John is not in the office, he spends time enjoying cricket, rugby, field sports, wood turning, gardening, 19th Century watercolours, philately, walking and Border history.
